The Holland Theatre Guild presents TWO great summer musicals for Holland audiences!

In keeping with its summer tradition, the Holland Theatre guild will present musicals during the summer featuring local students, past and present!

The 2011-2012 season will begin on July 21st with the opening of the summer season. Two musicals going back to back from July 21st through July 31. The summer opens with FOREVER PLAID! “Forever Plaid” is the deliciously goofy and charming story of The Plaids, a classic 1950s all-male singing group who return from the Great Beyond to perform the show they never got to when they were alive! This show runs______and tickets are $10.00 and available (starting July 1) at www.hollandtheatre.org/tickets or at the box office in the Performing Arts Center between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. week days or one hour before show times.

The second show offered in rep with "Plaid" is the MARVELOUS WONDERETTES! The Marvelous Wonderettes takes you to the 1958 Springfield High School prom where we meet the Wonderettes,four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts and voices to match. As we learn about their lives and loves, we are treated to the girls performing beautifully arranged renditions of classic ‘50s songs.

After intermission, your audience is in for a wonderful surprise as they’re whisked away to the girls’ ten-year reunion. The Wonderettes perform again with high-octane and soulful renditions of classic ‘60s tunes, and we see how their friendships have changed and endured in this captivating new Off-Broadway hit. Director Kevin Schneider, who has directed the Holland High Theatre Team to 16 State Championships in the last two decades, said he wanted to do something different this summer to begin his 25th year at Holland High School. "This season is special to me...every show has a special meaning to me and my history here at HHS." Two smaller musicals were chosen instead of one large one to make it easier to work around current building projects at Holland High. "It's crazy around here, with bulldozers, earth movers, cement trucks...we needed less drama in our summer dramas!"
